The Samsung microwave on hull 600 is labled at 850 watts. That's one of the reasons why I got a Honda 1KW generator, which puts out 900 watts continous, 1000 watts for a very short time. The Honda always trips off with the microwave on. I did furthur testing to see it actually draws 1150 watts, think the 850 watts is the actual output, cooking watts. Then there is the start up wattage which is quite a bit higher to start the motor. What all that means is Steve is right, need at least 1200 watts. My Prowatt (since then has been bought out by Xantrex) inverter is 1500 watts & runs the microwave perfectly.

I believe what you want is a 1750, or I think it is now a 1800 watt inverter. Btw, it runs the TV just fine, no extra static from it.

When my boat was commisioned they installed a rotary shore-gen 3-pole switch which works perfectly. I personally like to have all outlets supplied by the inverter and don't mind tuning that switch (you need to turn the inverter on anyway).

I don't think your Link 2000 is wired to the inverter, so keeping with one brand is not important. I don't have a Link so don't know that for sure, but think the Link just monitors amps & it doesn't care what is being powered by those amps.

Bottom line, I like the Prowatt/Xantrex 1800 watt inverters and feel a manual switch is no issue.

Btw, before the Honda 1KW came out, I tried running the hot water heater (1500 watts) from the inverter, while the engine and 120 amp alternator were on. I figured the extra load on the alternator would heat water faster than in idle and the inverter would provide power for the electric heating element. It worked. I just didn't like the alternator physically getting as hot as it did.

Also, this is 1 of 3 inverters on my boat. One is around 100 watts, permanently wired in to run the AC powered subwoofer (with a relay to turn it on automatically when the stereo is turned on). The other is 175 watts to run my laptop. I don't want to draw power for all appliances plugged into the big inverter, if all I need is about 100 watts for the laptop.

One other thing I can do & works great is run the Honda 1KW generator with the standard boat 30-amp shore cable. Then put the manual switch in the inverter mode. Then turn on the inverter & be able to run the microwave. Microwave runs from the inverter, with the generator charging the battery, putting most of the amps back in.

If anybody wants, I can get back into the rectifier for the water heater so it just draws 750 watts allowing the Honda 1KW to heat water.
