Posts: 0 07/27/04 13:08:36	Tags : None Hi, I'm looking to purchase a Catalina 42. My wife and I intend to use this boat as our cruising boat for retirement in a couple of years. We have a few questions for owners, if you could help us! 1. Does the Pullman berth get enough air? We love air and are used to a cool breeze with the v-berth. 2. If you stay on your boat for long periods of time, would you prefer a two or three cabin boat and why. 3. Any suggestions about the Catalina 42 before we begin looking? Posts: 617 07/27/04 14:00:50 Moderator	Pullman has enough air in So. Cal, most of the time. If you think about it, a V-berth has 1 large hatch facing forward, that's it. Pullman has a smaller one, also facing forward. But, it also has 4 small opening side hatches, allowing cross ventlation. There was discussion on 2 versus 3 cabin, check out: p209.ezboard.com/fcatalina42discussionforumfrm2.showMessage?topicID=31.topic If it's just 2 people, my feeling is 2-cabin is best, it has a great pantry & "garage". My suggestion before begin looking? Read through all of this discussion forum. I expect more has been written about this great yacht on this forum than anyplace else. Posts: 246 07/28/04 20:10:13	I have a 2003 2 cab. pullman #836. We selected it for the pullman berth and the full head/shower. My wife hated the old C36 V berth, too tall, too uncomfortable. We looked at other configurations, but were totally taken with the layout of the 2 cab pullman. For the two of us, it has been extremely comfortable. I agree with Norm, take a look at the discussion threads on the subject. There are some very interesting modifications and upgrades. In the end, what ever you choose, you will be delighted and dogmatic in your choice. If you are planning to buy new, talk to the dealer and spend some time on the boat. Our dealer, Catalina Yacht Anchorage, was great when it was obvious that we were BUYERS and let us spend a lot of time alone on the models.

Posts: 156 09/18/04 16:37:04	We own a 2 cabin pullman, #633. We spend every weekend on the boat and just completed a one month cruise. The admiral, myself and three cats. We have absolutely no complaints about the boat. We only use the anchor or a mooring. We also go to boat shows every year and come away with the conclusion that we made the correct choice. The salon of the two cabin is very spacious, and you can use the aft cabin for the garage. Send me an Email if you have any specific questions
