I have just completed the paperwork on a, new to us, Catalana 42 - Hull #746. I have been following the discussions for some time and found them to be very interesting. My question is to anyone with Hull numbers close to mine: What should I be aware of ?? Any unusual problems?? I have received the original equipment list from Catalina.

Peter,Congrats . You will love the Boat. I have Hull #749-Had it since new and it has been relatively problem free.
The only issues have been: 1. my Schaffer furling system is seizing and needs to be replaced. Seems to be more of a problem in So.Cal . Have the new part(flushable hub -just have not yet installed) The problem can apparantly be avoided by regular flushing. There is quite a thread re this on this site. I encourage you to read it. 2. my dutchmen lines(filiments) recently snapped-need to be replaced -not a big job-so I hear 3.My Tach was fluttering and has been replaced . Apparently some other Boats have had similar issues . 4. Lastly-if you read the old threads there were a lot of complaints about the Refrigerator doors sweating . Mine has been upgraded to the new door-but frankly I never had a problem w/ the old one. It might be more of a humid climate issue . All in all, in 4 years it has been relativly trouble free I have done very few upgrades -Last Nov installed Martec feathering prop and after a little tweaking -am now very happy with it .
