My husband and I have been snooping for some time, and like what we see.
Last fall my father past away and left us his Cat 42'. It was originally bought in 93 and was in both the Toronto boat show and the Annapolis boat show. Over the years, my parents weren't as capable of taking care of the boat, therefore is a bit (a lot) neglected. This past summer we have spent the majority of the time cleaning, arranging, replacing and complaining.
We've always loved the boat, but the interior wasn't made for actual sailing. So thanks to your crafters corner, we have massive construction underway. So far this year, we have had to clean top to bottom entire boat (parents were smokers), replace both forward and aft toilets, water pump, solenoid, problems with batteries, problems with rigging (still to be figured out), and my husband put shut off valves through out the boat as we had to replace all the taps. The boat had not been up to code (flares etc.) since 94. So as you can tell, it has been an expensive season.
This winter, we are having all the cushions done, and cupboards/cabinets built. Does anyone know what wood to use in this boat for construction? We want to keep the appearance the same as the rest of the boat, so you would think that it was built this way.
Anyway, that's a bit on us. We're in Lake Huron, have two kids, two cats and, well, we kind of inherited the dog as well. We look forward to this forum. All your tips have been great, as we already used the ones from the oil change. Thanks again.
