I just purchased a set of Spurs cutters for Threepenny Opera. In order to install them, I need to increase the space between the outboard end of the cutlass
bearing and the prop hub by ~.3". There are two ways to do this, I can have a metal disc machined to act as a spacer between the prop shaft flange and the
transmission flange. Alternatively I notice there is a set screw on the prop shaft flange that allows the shaft to be pulled out of the flange. Can I slide
the shaft out of the flange by the required .3" without causing other problems like having the prop shaft fall out of the boat??
Is there another way to gain the .3" clearance between the cutlass bearing and the prop shaft?? If I go the spacer disc route, do you think starboard would do the trick? I've got some starboard of the appropriate thickness?
Thanks
Addison
