Some added advice from a friend of our Fleet 12:

As for the description on the C-36 web site, I would add a few comments:
1. Add a towel or blanket to the deck beyond the winch and drape it up, onto the lower lifeline. Errant springs & small parts will not then bounce on
the hard surface and wind up overboard. (some people suggest using a cardboard box, cut to fit around the winch)
2. Use a toothbrush (preferably your spouses) for cleaning the old grease and crud off gears and pawls.
3. Put some diesel into a bucket and soak the parts before cleaning (in spite of the increasing costs of diesel, it's still cheaper than WD40 But WD40
is really good for dirty grease spots that get on the deck)
4. The C-36 instructions are WRONG! If you look carefully at the last 6 pix, you will see that the plastic Stripper Ring #5 is NOT captured by the metal
Feeder Arm #2. It has to be!
Lewmar hands out their maintenance book at boat shows and I expect that they can be obtained thru their web site. Highly recommended to have one on board.
