I was recently talking with Gerry Douglas about his C42 that is parked near mine and the topic of hot water came up. He recently put some household type (read: Home Depot) pipe insulation on most of his hot water lines throughout the boat. He says it keeps water much warmer once some hot water has been run. Seems like a great tradeoff of about $8 and a few hours labor.

Another thought he has is putting another 6 or 11 gallon hot water heater in series with the existing heater. The concensus is water stays hot quite a while, just wish there was more of it. I would guess you could not run 120 VAC to it, would kick off the breaker, but engine heat could give more capacity. A little food for thought.
