Has anyone added a genoa furling winch in a 2 cabin pullman? If so what size and any issues with mounting?

I actually mounted Lewmar #42s 20'' aft of my primary Genoa winchs.I originally installed them for use for my asym chute.I haeven't had much of a
chance to use them with the chute, but use them all the time to take my head sail in with. The combination of the Milwaukee 28 volt right angle drill with
winchbit mkes it easy to furl any time you like.I built a delrin mounting pad (like the one under your primaries)to keep it riding @90 degrees..The install is
a little tricky.Make sure you have accsess to the winch mounting screws.I did not and had to install viewing plates to get to the bolts.

Henry,
I added Lewmar 40s aft of the primary winches - also to handle my gennaker. The installation has been great. I made the mistake of not installing self-tailers, so I also had to install cleats. The winches work well for the roller furling, but remember, if you are constantly having trouble furling your jib, there might be some extra friction in the system. We fly a 155% Genoa, & when the wind is greater than 15 knots the jib is furled while coasting downwind. This takes a lot of strain off the system, since the apparent wind is lessened. The secondary winches are just used as "wraps" to keep constant tension on the furling line while the jib is being pulled in by hand. We have never had to use the winch handle when furling the jib. IMHO, using the winch handle could be dangerous if there were a fouled line and no one was aware of the problem. Other than that, Steve's post is right on target. I also installed an electric Lewmar ST 40 on the starboard side of the doghouse. This is now how I raise my main, & trim the mainsheet.
