Currently I have a 35 lb CQR with 45 feet of chain. I would like to move up to a 45 lb anchor as I feel I am too light. Has anyone had any experience with
the Rocna or Mansion Supreme anchors?

Steve,
You should also check out Fortress anchors. They are aluminum Danforth-type anchors. Very light and great holding power. Regards, Bob Pignatello

The anchor that I use is a 44lb Bruce with 300 ft. of 5/16 HT chain. I have decided to go this way because I do alot of anchoring and especially in Desolation
Sound where the water can be very deep. In a storm I want to have a scope of at least 6:1 for chain at these conditions.

Hi Steve
I also went to a 44lb Bruce - with 200 ft of chain attached to 100ft of nylon rode. I was happy with the 35lb(?) Bruce until we went through a little anchoring drill at midnight. In anchors, like some other things - the bigger the better.

After using a Fortress FX 23 for 3 years in the Bahamas, I just changed this year
to a 44 pound Delta with 100 feet of chain and 200 feet of plait. My feeling is the Delta sets better in hard sand, weeds, and rocks than the Fortress. The Fortress, however, sets very well in soft sand and mud. Sort of depends were you are when selecting anchors. Best, John |
