Posts: 66 06/13/05 07:02:12	Tags : None I am in the process of purchasing a used asymetrical spinnaker off a 38' Morgan. It is just slightly small for the 42, but I have tested the sail and it will be fine for cruising. Can anyone recommend a good sock for the sail. I have heard the ATN is the best but I have no experience with it. I have also looked at the Chute Scoop, but have no experience with it either. Any recommendations as well as vendors would be appreciated. Steve Ball Hull 559 Holland Michigan

Posts: 228 06/13/05 07:13:46	atn is the best,my sailmaker offerred to give me used socks for free, I purchased the atn on his advice and have been satisfied. do not forget to purcase the atn tacker as well.

It was blowing over 20 last time I doused and I had a bit of twisting and couldn't get the sock down all the way but that could be operator error. I had to drop the entire thing on the deck 2/3rds sheathed but that was better tan none. My sail maker also says the ATN is the best sock out there. I am still getting used to it. Posts: 323 11/18/05 21:30:04	I havd a Chute Scoop on my last boat and have an ATN sock on Melelana. Although there was a size difference (last boat was 31 feet), the Chute scoop seemed to be just as effective as the ATN. The ATN is a little bulkier but is subjectively higher quality.
