Temporary slip in Channel Islands area |

I'm hoping to do the Coastal Cup in early June which will put me in the Santa Barbara area Approx June 10. I need a slip to put my 42 until June 30. Anyone have any suggestions of where I might obtain a slip for 30 days or less in Marina Del Rey or father north? Thanks.

One sugestion is Burton Chace Park in Marina del Rey. It is really nice with great views. I think you can take a guest slip for up to 2 weeks, but I'm not sure if there is a shorter stay-limit during the summer.
I believe the guest slips are owned and managed by the city. The Santa Monica Y/C is nearby (that's where I met Captain Norm), as well as a grocery store and a West Marine. Groceries, spare parts and Norm -- what else could a C42 want? Edit -- here's their web site. Looks like only a 7-day stay is possible (we were there in the winter and since it wasn't busy, were allowed to stay longer). Burton Chace Park Guest Slips Rod Williams

Follow-up to above: If you want to email me, I can make some other suggestions. We spent a lot of time cruising in that area and found some really good places to stay -- mostly by trial and error. Rod Williams

Steve, One other thought is to contact the Catalina dealer in Channel Islands Harbor. I know they control quite a few slips there. They actually commission larger boats there & deliver them to del Rey... The point being they have a bunch of slips or side-ties... ready to accommodate a Catalina that needs to be commissioned. If they know there is no big need for slips when you will be there, they would probably be your best option & price. They may need to move your boat around a few times, but thy're also experts with these fine yachts <grin>. If you persue this, you should start conversations with Bob, manager there. Feel free to mention my name. If that doesn't work, you may try the dealerships in Marina del Rey (ask for Paul), or, I think Santa Barbara still has a dealership. Channel Islands Yacht Club has been great too me in the past. I've left a boat there about a week. When you come to this area, be sure to send me a message. I'd like to meet you & see some of the improvements you have done. Regarding email addresses. My recommendation is to use the ezboard crude private message scheme. At the top right of the Forum's opening screen, where it says you're logged in, it tells you if you hhave any private messages. You should be able to find slips in either Channel Islands Harbor or Ventura Harbor. Anacapa Isle Marina in Channel Islands Harbor and Ventura Isle Marina in Ventura Harbor should have temporary slips. I also see slips open in Ventura West Marina. Both are convenient points to all the Channel Islands. Also Santa Barbara Harbor has guest sliips with a maximum stay of 1 month. You may want to check the website "www.socalsail.com" for listings of all the marinas in the area.
