Posts: 19 12/15/05 07:12:04	Tags : None Are both your starboard and port lazerettes open to below?? If so, where is your propane tank stored? Does anyone have a below deck sealed propane locker? My port lazerette holds a drop in propane locker. (1991 2-cabin). Starboard is open, but doesn't provide enough storage. With our 2 kids and plans to work our way up the east coast this summer we are lacking storage for our equipment (toys). Moving my propane would allow easy access to the storage room from the cockpit. Other planned improvements- 2nd fuel tank- in pace of aft holding Davits lcd tv and dvd staysail- boat came with inner stay/runners but no sail. Thanks, this forum have been helpful. Posts: 66 12/15/05 12:44:01	Capn Itch: In our early version( 89 3 cabin) the propane tanks are placed in port or starbd (ours) laz and not in isolated vented compartment. Most have modular vented after market boxes to store the tanks but the boxes are not user friendly and our boxes dont work well with the newer tanks.we can not get the top to secure to the base based on the new designs I am considering building a permanent isolated vented propane locker back there even though it will take up valuable storage space. appreciate anyone else's experience with this. Posts: 323 12/15/05 13:30:09	Tom, Seaward Products at (562) 699-7997 sells the lockers we have on our 1989/1990 boats and has a lid that fits the new bottles. I think it was around $37.00 and I had it in Solomons 3 days after ordering it. I'd like a larger bottle, but haven't come up with a good answer. Saw the "drop in" locker T-I asks about. It holds a 10 lb bottle as I recall, but don't like the loss of access that comes with it. The small bottle is adequate for Bay cruising, but I'd want more for longer passages. Posts: 91 12/15/05 13:30:59	In my 1994 Mark I there is a dedicated (I think stock) propane locker hatch just aft of the port genoa winch. It is directly above the port tee in the aft of the cockpit. With a skilled glassworker I suspect you could get this same set up. A careful cutting of the existing glass with a good saber saw, keeping the cutout for the hatch. It is a great location and this has a self draining through hull for potential leaks. I have an aluminum 3 gallon tank that just fits in this space. We have a tri cabin but so far have been able to locate nice places for the "noodles", crab nets, and other array of kid toys. I am jealous of your refrigeration space which is larger than our tri cabin. I now keep a cooler full of drinks beneath the sink in the aft head. We do have this "storage" space beneath our daughters port side aft cabin bunk and I have not decided what should go down there in the real dungeon of the boat..... good luck. Cathy #558

Posts: 310 12/17/05 19:55:20	We cruise with four of us on board. We are happy to have our second head and its holding tank and would not want to be without it. The NorthEast is big on pump outs and NOT overboard discharge...... We cruise with gerry jugs which can extend our cruising range. getting rid of the second holding tank might make the a boat less marketable I believe. CAthy in CT

Posts: 19 12/18/05 19:45:11	Cathy in Ct, We will be heading North from the Chesapeake for 6-8 weeks (july and August). We have a few stops along NJ to see some friends. No other itinerary, but our twin boys (6 yrs.) love to swim, so this may keep us from going too far up. Maybe to Nantucket, with stops in Newport and Block Island. Any suggestions are welcome. Access from the cockpit to the storage area would be easier than from the galley, it is quite a crawl to a rather large are. Also, my rear holding tank is already disconnected (Lectra- San). It seem like a good spot for a fuel tank. I found an outfit to weld a custom tank to fit. Tropical Itch
