We just bought our boat last week, a 1992 2-cabin Pullman (#328), so I'm low on the learning curve.
Before leaving the dock at the brokerage for the 60nm trip to our home, I decided to fill the water tanks. I placed a hose in one of the filler openings and turned on the water. Water began backing up in the filler, so I turned down the pressure and everything seemed to be OK. After 10 mins. or so, I noticed that the bilge pump was beginning to cycle on and off. Putting 2 and 2 together, I wondered if I was filling the bilges with water instead of the water tank. Lifting the floorboards over the bilge confirmed my guess.
On my Beneteau, there was an overflow opening in the water tank filler hose so that when your tanks and hoses were just about full, the water would start spurting out of the overflow and down the outside of the hull. I did a quick look around the 3 fillers on Afterglow and didn't see anything that looked like an overflow opening. So, is it "normal" for your tanks to overflow to the bilge, or do I have a leak somewhere in the tanks or in the filler hose?
