Dear C42 Owners,
Our C42, hull 463, is the 3-cabin version and the alu Isomat mast passes through the deck in the owner's cabin, right against the pillow of the pullman berth. So when asleep (or trying to) the skipper's ear is at only 4 inches close to the mast and with the slightest motion of the boat the mast becomes a terrible noisemaker.
I don't suspect the halyards running inside to be the cause of this noisance because we can tighten them on the winches and stoppers. The villains are the electrical wires : all or some of them are dangling loose inside the mast (top-, steam-, decklight, radarscanner,windspeed and VHF) and with the slightest rolling they produce a sound as loud as a churchbell.
Can you advise me how we can silence this mast properly and what budget would be needed;
Wilf & Katrien o/b Pegasus, Nieuwpoort, Belgium
