Posts: 261 04/04/08 04:55:17	Tags : None Recently the manual shut off was hard to pull and push. Replacing a new teleflex cable would be difficult job so I tried inserting a new cable ( well lubed)into the sheath. Now My manual shutoff is as smooth as butter.

Posts: 165 04/04/08 10:02:27	When my cable got stuck and broke I replaced it with an electric shutoff. Works great and is an upgrade (sort of) to the boat. The first mate loves it.

Posts: 261 04/05/08 06:27:45	Original installations bend the cable making it hard to remove until the bend is cut, still leaving enough cable to pull out and inspect, if there is no rust or major defect you could sand , relube and try. Previously I have tried to regrease on another boat without much luck. As most cables use the same diameter stainless cable inside, I bought the cheapest and longer than needed cable ($21 ). The Stainless barrel end was the right diameter for dieing screw threads to match the handle later , however until that is done I used a long bolt with two nuts and a barrel nut to serve as a handle temporarily.

What did you get, where did you get it, how long did it take to install, and how much did it cost $$$$ ???
