Posts: 103 04/30/08 14:18:37	Some time ago (1983) someone came out with the same sonic system. I almost had it installed on my Catalina 30 then -because it sounded like a great idea - until I anchored next to a Grand Banks who had the sonic system installed at some expense. He told me that he had to get his bottom cleaned just as often as before and he thought he had wasted his money. Fast forward to today - I looked at the web site and think its almost the same device. I would definetely try to get a phone number or adress from a customer that has this system installed and have a long talk with him. This system is not cheap and my feeling is that if it is so good then the sonic system would be everywhere, especially with todays environmental concerns. Peter C'est la Vie Hull #746

I'm no marine biologist, but I'm pretty sure barnacles aren't likely to be confused by vibrating, resonating boats, posing as predators. Whenever I've left my dinghy in the water for a week or so at the slip, I always find tiny marine organisms, including barnacles, starting new colonies on the RIB's bottom. The new barnacles are tiny; almost like grains of sand, and apparently drifted randomly through the water until they attached to my dink... they don't seem to have much capacity for recognizing menace.
