Has anyone else had this issue? 1994 2 cabin layout.
Easy to solve... just put a plug in the sink drain but having the problem and finding it was driving me nuts.

Aft Head Flooding |

It only took me two years to find the reason my aft head was filling with water while sailing hard to weather on a port tack. The reason was a mystery to all
I asked but was simple in the end. The aft head sink would siphon from the thru hull and fill up the basin. When we leveled out the sink would empty and I
had no idea where the water was coming from until I saw it full of water while underway.

Why not close the through hulls when you are underwayÉ

Do NOT even think about solving the problem by installing a one-way valve in the sink drain. It will at least double the time it takes for the sink to drain, easily clog, AND will put you more at risk for accidental sinking with two more hose connections (valve IN and OUT) being below the water line. Best solution…the simple sink stopper. You may not find a "rubber" stopper size to exactly fit, so grind/file/sand one that's slightly too large to get the proper fit. IMPORTANT: While you are "in there" check to make sure the
drain hose is firmly attached to the sink drain. To my disbelief, some sinks come with a slightly tapered drain hose connection AND a slippery
surface on the connection (which is made of nylon, I think.) Result…the hose can easily come off, even if the hose clamps are tight. In fact,
once I tightened the clamps and, due to the tapered connection, the hose actually squeezed out the nylon connection to the sink!

We had this problem always on our Catalina 36. Closing the thru hull to the sink is really all that is needed.
