All went pretty well, but have some questions:
1) Single line reefing has a lot of friction, and we find it hard to raise the complete main from the cockpit after its been reefed, without lots of running back & forth to pull out spare line from both ends of the boom.
2) We also find it hard to reef without going to the mast to drop out slides from the track, otherwise there is a bunched up sail at the new tack position, which kind of defeats the idea of cockpit reefing. Also without doing this there is too much friction to pull the tack & clew down to the boom properly.
Has anyone modified how this works, all my previous boats have had simple slab reefing, which I have been able to set-up in half the time this seems to take. But it always involved a trip to the mast to do the job, as far as I can see at present I still have to go to the mast, and might jsut convert it to a simple slab reef.
Lastly we have a 105% Roller Furler which we think is too underpowered for coastal work so a new 130% Genoa is now on our shopping list, the Genoa track seems too short to get it to set correctly.
Thanks
Stuart
