I have a mess on my hands.
I am trying to sand and refinish some areas of teak inside the cabin. What I am finding is that previous refinishing work is making this more difficult. Some areas have been sanded and caused the wood to be blotchy and then the previous owner clear coating over it. I have read about the oil clogging the pores of the wood from aggressive sanding. I am trying to be careful but everything I touch darkens. This floor had a layer of high gloss on it that never cured. I stripped that off easily and now i have the stains still under and in the original Catalina finish. I have tried oxalic on the teak and holy but it does not do anything, I read pool chlorine will remove the mold? sanding has made this only worse
close up it looks like a palm sander was used, i read it can cause the oil in the teak to gum up??
I did not have any problems refinishing the teak in the showers, or exterior but inside the slightest touch changes the tone of the wood beyond ever matching again.
what am i doing wrong.
please help.
Chris
