I have a water heater problem The water heater supplies plenty of hot water after engine has been running...also no leaks. ..The problem... The AC side of the
heating unit is not working. I checked and there seems to be power going to the water heater. I am wondering if there is any kind of re-set on the heater or
could it be the heating element..It is the origional heater on a 90 Cat. 42 (3 cabin). Has anyone had similar problems...or tried to replace or repair the
heating element. I am only guessing, that the element may be the problem...Thanks...

John, I'm having the exact problem and hope I don't have to go through the hassle of replacing the whole unit. Hopefully someone will have a suggestion. Greg Q Dona #447 three cabin |

Guys, on the aft side of the heater is the access panel. Remove the access panel. There will be a overheat cutout breaker (red button). Push to reset. The
heater should work fine. The cause is running the heater dry which overheats the element causing the overtemp sensor to trip.

I opened the access panel, but did not see any 'red' reset button. I did however follow the white wire and found a disconnect. I am about to clean the connection area and re-attach. Here's hoping that this is the only problem....Thanks John Black Cat 42 #208 Three cabin Semiahmoo WA |

Rodney, I opened the panel and the reset button was right there. Pushed it in and all is well, no more cold showers. Thanks. Greg Q

For your information, Seaward now sells a sacrificial anode that screws in in place of the drain plug.
I change mine every year and it is always about 50 % used up. |

Just a quick comment, last year I forgot to drain my water heater in my RV and the anode turned to jello...a real mess! So make sure you change the anode on a
yearly basis...
