How do you know if the holding tanks are full without a monitor? Do you just wait until it squirts out the vent? I couldn't find anything in the owners
manual.
I have a feeling there is no solution until I get a monitor installed, but wondered if anyone has an interim solution to avoid a social malfunction.

Joe,
You know the holding tank is full when the bowl won't pump dry. You definitely don't want to fill it to the point that waste is leaking out the vent. We have one of those monitors where a red light turns on when the tank is almost full. I'm think of replacing these with a level monitor at some point.

Thanks for the tip Ron, We have Vacuflush heads, so I wonder what it will do when it fills up. I will be extra cautious until we get the (Accugage or similar)
monitors installed. I dont want an explosion! Luckily the holding tanks look a lot stronger than the water tanks and shouldn't bulge and then leak.

You head will be harder to pump before the tank overflows.

You really don't want to overflow the holding tanks to the point that stuff comes out of the vent. If that happens, then you should flush the vent lines
to make sure you do not get a blockage.
One suggestion is to clean out the holding tank and flush it with clean water a couple of times. Then take a flush count also with clean water to see how many flushes it takes to fill the holding tank. With a Vacuflush system, it is fairly consistent in its volume. The biologics will be variable so you will want to subtract at least 5 flushes from the count to set your maximum. There will be a different count for the forward (22 gallon) and aft (17 gallon) tanks. We have the Snake River tank gauging system on Dancing Dolphin, but I still use a flush count to project how long we have before needed to empty the tank.

We have Lavac and not VacuFlush. I really like the VacuFlush system but they were much more difficult to install when we commissioned our boat so I opted for
the Lavac as I did the installation on my own.
Regarding flush counts on the aft head we average between 35 and 40 flushes. On the forward head we average between 45 and 50 flushes.
