I did it, I ordered my C42. They tell me that it will be delevered third week of Oct. I will be keeping her at Green Turtle Bay on Lake Barkley, its just a
short motor from Kentucky Lake, and then down with the mast and 6 day motor to the Gulf, or Lake Michigan.
I am getting a 3 cabin pullman with a wing. I will post my hull number once I get that info from the dealer, I will also post a link with pictures as the
become available. I will join the Association when my membership at the Catalina 25 site expires, I believe in the Catalina owners groups, its a great way to
meet fellow sailors and learn more about your boat.
Her name will Surprise. well looking forward to this new chapter in my sailing life and new adventures.
I was not sure where to post this, so I put it here in Tech discussion, so if there is any advice lay it on me. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the club CaptBear! Did you go with mainsail furling? or conventional? Either way you"ll love the boat.
As for advice, I would make sure I got a vacumn cleaner out and go for a crawl through the bilges sucking up as much construction debris as possible. Look into the settess, under the cupboards, behind the heads, under the engine pan etc. Then I'd retrace my steps and hose the inside of the bilge down as much as possible with a high pressure hose. It is incredible how much crud Catalina leaves laying around inside the hull when they build a boat, and the little stuff is guaranteed to choke your bilge pump. Minor stuff but a royal PITA when you want to play with your new boat!! Addison

Welcome to the C42 family. I have been out of town for a while, and I just discovered that you had sent me a private message through Yuku. I tried to respond, but Yuku messaging does not play nice with Firefox, and I don't use Internet Exploder. Sorry I did not get back to you, but it seems that you got enough info to go ahead and order the C42. Addison is correct about the cleaning, but we did not find as much stuff on the C42 as on the previous C400 and C320. The one other item to check on fairly early is that there is no standing water trapped by plugged limber holes. I agree with the hose treatment. No need for "high pressure"; an ordinary garden hose is fine. I routinely hose down the entire bilge every few months, just to get rid of any accumulated dirt and and crawlies. The first time you do this you can spot any areas that don't drain correctly. Finally, if you plan to add any internal tank monitors, do it as the very first thing. I added internal monitors to the holding tanks when they were unused. No need for nose plugs or extreme ventilation. I got my hull number today, hull 998. From what I was told she has been built for a month or so and was waiting to go to a dealer as a stock boat, but they
pulled her back before shipping to let me have her so I dont have to wait till January, bad time to be messing with boats in Kentucky. although not below
freezing alot, its is cold and wet.
Oh, and as far as the rig goes I went with boom furling, and one electric winch on cabin top. I like that a lot better, its little pricey, but I think for the sailing I have planned in future will suit me nicely. I also got the Panda Gen set, I am getting AC installed because of the crazy hot months in Kentucky and also so I can spend some weekends this winter on her. Gene, I dont even recall what I ask you. But if you could remind me and give me a little answer here that would be cool...I still trying to find as much info as I can. and answer questions even if old. 
Oh and thanks for the adivce on vacume and cleaning out bilge, I will bring my trusty shop vac and get to it. I am sure I will have time while I wait for AC instal and bottome paint. Well I will keep all posted. Capt Bear aka Barry Surprise C42 #998 W/K 3cab pull |

Home depot carries a decent shop vac called a "stinger". I've used it for years and really like it. It will fit nicely in your boat by opening
the access in the front of the shower (where the anchor windlass is located) and dropping it down under the shower seat. It's a good place to put something
relatively big, so it doesn't get lost. Finding a place for a vacuum on board can sometimes be a bit of a pain. This combination works.

Congratulations on the C42. One more thing to add to the other comments (which are spot on), go around and tighten everything. When our boat arrived everything from door handles to toilets were loose. Also, but hopefully not a worry to start with, keep an eye on the prop shaft flange bolts. They have a nasty habit of loosening over time. Enjoy the boat.

Kirk, I got the Leisurefurl, its what the Factory installed, so I just went with it. I went on line and check out the video clips and info from owners who had
installed it. All of the comments where positive except for the drum on the front of the mast. So I will work with it for awhile and see how it effects things
then work on a fix.
I have a list of things around here somewhere that I am making of all the things that I need to check. I dont the truck ride accross the nation helps anything. I have noticed from my time in the military that anything you tighten before a move needs to be redone later, all the vibration and stuff plays havoc with stuff. And then there is just the people being in a hurry. I do have one question that comes to mind, one concern and thats the shaft seal, is there not a another type that can be instaled that leaks less or something like that? Well I keep looking at the calendar and thinking wow, its getting close, it all still seems like a dream. I dont think the reality will sink in till I am actually standing there looking at her, watching them pull her off the trailer and start the process of working on her. wow...this is such a big move for me. I love a challange and moving from a Catalina 25 will be cultura shock as far as the amount of room, size of things and such. heck I will be able to walk with out ducking every where I go. well.....thanks for the great welcome and I really value the comments and tips. not have to live thru the same or at least be prepare just in case I do have to live thru the same. I have alread been told some small things on my old
Catalina 25 that prevented some extra pain that I did not have to endure. I am learning a lot of great things that will make life easier on me when I see my
boat for the first time....Like bring a shop vac, I had not thought of that so will save me lots of time and money. SO THANKS TO EVERYONE!

Barry,
That is quite a step up from a C25 to a C42. I thought we had a big upgrade from a C30 to a C42. You will love all of the extra room. I actually find the C42 easier to single hand than the C30 was, except getting in and out of the slip.
