I have a Jabsco VSD 4.5 GPM water pump on my boat. I installed it last year to replace the sewing machine style Jabsco that came with the boat.
The pump is still delivering great water pressure, and appears to have a true VSD, as the pump runs harder when there is more demand. I noticed today however that the pump is running constantly and the motor is very hot. Not surprising since it may have been running non-stop for weeks?? The way I noticed the pump running was from the ticking sound of the pump cycling very slowly, about 1 tick per second. There are no leaks in the system, because my water levels are constant and there is no unusual consumption.
The unit is only 1 year into a 3 year warranty so I may just haul it out and take it back to the store, but before I do, I'd like to try some troubleshooting if it can be done without major, as in warranty voiding, surgery.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Addison
