The box has moulded tangs that I can drive a lag screw through, but since it has to sit on the bottom of the boat, is the hull thick enough to handle 4 lag screws to 3/4 inch depth or do I need to build it up by glassing in a piece of plywood? I was planning on installing the battery box behind the existing compartment, but shifted towards the centerline, so the edge of the box touches the rudder post brace. It will not in anyway interfere with rudder travel, or access to the steering gear if I do this.
Any Ideas?
