Got to take Surprise out for another great day out on the water. It was a typical spring day, chilly and lil blustery, but thats perfect for a C42.
We start our with wind out of the north at about 15 with gust to 17knts, so put main and Genoa up reefed just slightly. Sailed for about an hour so just enjoying the day getting my wet again, but soon relized that I need more sail and Surprise could handle much more that she was getting so we let the reefs out and creeped from a stately 4-5 knts to about 5-6, this was on a down wind run, had lunch with a lil rum to warm the bones then made a long lazy loop into a bay, then came and took it on the nose for next 4 hours. image What a sail, soon as we came out of the bay and the wind shadow she accelerated to 7knts and stayed there with an occasional burst of 8 knts, part way up the lake the wind shifted give us the chance to make some really nice long tacks, its was great fun, I just love the way this boat sails. I did notice she was a touch slower, or slower to accel, but thats what I get for filling my water tanks before we left. We took a bunch of pics and thought I would share a few. enjoy, and cheers, heres to our ships at sea.

Oh, and an update for those that ask. The Liesure furl boom is working great, I am figuring it out more with each outing and I love the ease of operating it from the cockpit, however the electric winch is almost a must, its a long way to the top of the mast on manual image

The girls just love being on the lowside as the water rushes by, with an lil wave action from time to time....but only when things are smooth if it gets rough then its back to the cockpit, or below...
