We just replaced the main and 140% genoa on our Catalina 42. If anybody wants either or both they can have them for the cost of getting them. The genoa was made by Catalina. It needs a new UV cover but is otherwise in good repair. The main was made by Catalina is dirty but is otherwise in good repair. I am guessing the sails are origional to the boat (1999). Are they perfect - no - but they are free except for the cost to pick them up or to ship them to you.

You are welcome to just the main if that is the only sail you want. There are two ways to reach me; email at jenks1484@hotmail.com or by phone at 253-370-3176. I will stop by my local UPS store on Tuesday and ask them about shipping to Santa Monica and let you know what I find out. I am not sure how to ship the battens. There are 4 or 5 full length battens. The longest must be about 12 feet or so. I will check on that too. If you have any ideas let me know. I do not have any pictures and the sails are off the boat and bagged. The main is dirty and has a San Diego area PHRF number on it. It had the hull number on it at one time and you can still see where it was. The number was 665. I am not sure where this sail came from (it was made by Catalina) but it was not origional with the boat I just bought (hull 674). She used to be owned by John and Annette Peck of San Diego - we bought it and moved it to Tacoma in July.

Just a thought but you might consider using Greyhound to ship the sails. I recently sold a jib and the guy who bought it recommended using Greyhound which I
did and it was cheap, fast and the sail went in its own bag (no packaging needed).

I checked with my local shipping store. To ship a package that is 4 ft x 3 ft x 1.5 ft and weighs 70 pounds would cost about $250 to $300. Shipping by Greyhound might be cheaper. If you are interested you can check it out and let me know.
