My MKII used to spit diesel out of the vent while refueling. A few years ago I added a Racor LG100 vent fuel/air separator which totally solved that problem.
Lately, it has been EXTREMELY slow (like 45 minutes to add 10 gallons of fuel) adding fuel, just foamed up in the fill hose. I don't think it's a
"different" blend of fuel, so figure problem could only be in the vent. Took off the stainless vent fixture, clean as a whistle. Blew in the LG100,
absolutely no resistance there. I figure the hose is the only other possible culprit. Disconnected the vent hose off the tank. Blowing thru it has no
resistance.
In stead of just replacing the hose, I ran garden hose water thru the vent hose starting at the tank, after temporarily removing the LG100. I thought maybe there would be some debris in the hose, allowing air to flow but would restrict if liquid needed to flow. I was hoping to see some debris come out, but didn't. I ran about a 25% flow for 1 minute, then dried out the hose & vent fixture with a hair dryer--want to be sure no water remained in this vent.
I recently had an opportunity to put 20+ gallons in the tank. Filled up to the very top very quickly with no foam. Think this problem is 100% solved. I'll let you know if it is not.
