This is the my first year in a yard that does not allow the owner to paint the bottom. I am curious as to what others pay (excluding cost of paint) to have there C42s sanded and painted with one coat. It looks like I am going to pay in excess of $1000 which to me seems unreasonable.

Depends on where you are. In San Diego, I would have been happy to get a good paint job for $1000, including haul out and sanding. Very happy in fact. I think we paid about $1400 there at a good yard.

$ 1,000.00 sounds fine to me too. I had mine done this year, I forget the exact amount but i'm quite sure it was close to 1,100.00. 500 of it was just the paint. I'm in Long Island, NY

My 42 cost $825 to paint without the sanding.

You got a good deal. Here in Annapolis, it's $24/ft. for sanding and bottom paint (Trinidad SR). Hull waxing is an additional $10/ft. Obviously, that doesn't include the hauling, blocking, and launching.

In Alamitos Bay in California we had ours done with 2 coats & a little gel coat repair at the waterline (old scratch in the boot stripe) and it cost us $1200 including the haulout and trip back.
