Not exactly sure what exactly you are asking or your concerns, but the displacement for the 42 can be found on the Catalina 42 website.

Click on "Tech Specs" for all the boats specs including weight. If you are concerned with adding weight to the hull by putting in cabinetry, counter tops etc. then you can consider that most designers will anticipate that owners will typically add 10 to 15 % of the designed displacement to the hull once the boat is in the owners hands.


For example, the designed diaplacement of the 42 is 20,500#.
That number is lite by the way. my MK II 2 cabin weighs 26,500# in the boat yard slings. That includes 1/4 wet (fuel and water) and fully provisioned with outboards, anchors, chains, sails etc.

Any weight that you add to a sailboat will affect the performance but it is a real handicap in the ends where anchors and chains and outboards will noticiably increase the pitching moment on most boats.

If you keep the weight low and centered it won't bother your performance or trim radically enough for you to notice it.
