I have an engine stop solenoid kit that is an upgrade for the manual engine stop cable on a 50 hp engine. The kit did NOT come with wiring instructions. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Hmm, where did you get the kit? I imagine you could wire it to one of the heavy wires inside the engine instrument pod along with a heavy push button switch. Does the solenoid have a current rating?

I bought it through a local dealer, who gets it from Mack Boring, a Yanmar distributer on the East Coast.
It comes with a harness with 5 terminations. Two obviously go to +12 volts and ground. The other two go to the solenoid. The fifth connects to either +12 or ground through the stop switch. There is no current rating on the solenoid. This electric stop switch is a new feature on all of the new engines and is an upgrade fot the older engines. If you want, send me an e mail with a fax number or I can scan the information and e mail it to you. |
