I'm surprised a Y valve wasn't automatically installed at time of commissioning, as CYA did it for me. In the forward head, they put the Y valve just inside the forward hatch below the pullman, right where many thru-hull valves and the macerater are. It's on the aft plywood. They put another big thru-hull valve there for direct discharge. I just need to look in 1 place to see status of valves.

For the aft head, the Y valve was installed about 2' forward of the toilet, right under the sink counter (also 2-cabin). You can get at the hose clamps pretty easily from the hatch right above the toilet. Actually works out very well, can easily see which way valve is pointing without opening any hatches. They installed the big thru-valve under the starboard bench, just aft of the nav chair. If I had to do it again, I'd have that valve installed as far aft as possible under that bench, just below the electrical panel. Routing of the hose was quite simple, as I have removed them for reaming once. No vented loop was installed in the discharge. The anti-siphon valve would probably get all clogged up anyway.
