I think you've shorted C42s a bit. My boat will cruise for 35+ hours at 6+ knots on her standard 38 gallon load of fuel. I know, I pulled up to the fuel
docks in Santa Barbara with the needle buried on 'E' cruising down the west coast.
Other's mileage may vary....

Since HaveBlue is a Catalina 42 and this is the place to discuss C42's, we have comments from the designer Craig Schmitman out of Ventura, CA. I
haven't heard any updates lately, but he did bring the boat to the West Coast Catalina Rendezvous a few years ago and provided tours. For more info, click

Being in Ventura, I haven't seen HaveBlue around lately and the website is closed.
This was a very interesting concept and demonstration project. I believe the C42 was on loan from the factory for 2 years and not owned by Craig. I spoke to Craig at the time and my impression was that his main goal was to patent the use of hydrogen propulsion for marine vessels. Then sit back and collect royalties on the IP. As such, I never saw a serious effort (and funding) to really prove the technology. I'd be interested in hearing an update since this is truly a cool concept.
