Dutchman, spinnaker sheave

Posts: 73 01/07/08 07:00:43	Tags : None I need to redo the 2 point Dutchman systems of my 97 Mark II full batten main. As it is now, there is a static steel cable running from the masthead to the end of the boom where through a block the topping lift become line and adjusts through the boom. I want to replace this with halyard style type A system so the mono lines can be easily replaced without going aloft. Question, can the second spinnaker sheave be used for this purpose? By design it can handle a line lead aft and thus OK for a topping lift? Thanks, John

Posts: 216 01/07/08 10:55:25	John, There are already 2 sheaves on the back side of the masthead fitting. One for the main halyard and a second for a topping lift. Posts: 246 01/08/08 05:31:28	I put a small block at the top of the mast and a dingy snatch block at the bottom. A continous line is run through so the dutchman can be raised and lowered by opening the snatch block . The snatch block has one extra small line that secures the tension on the dutchman.
