I was there today when they pulled her off the trailer, I was on pins and needles the whole time, tried not worry, cause I know the guys doing the work are
pretty good, but still cant help but worry. Any how, she is off the trailer now and getting preped to go into the water, hope to splash her this Friday, and
sail little bit on Sat. So hoping and praying for good weather and some nice wind. As far as condition the only thing that is standing out is one leaking hatch
in stb aft cabin, key was left in nav station and rubbed a line on the finish, little dirty but not bad at all, she is in pretty good shape, not alot of
debries laying around.

Barry:
They left the key in the wood panel above our electrical panel at the nav station as well. The dealer had to carefully refinish the area. They did a great job. It's amazing to me that the folks at Catalina haven't figured this out! All they need to do is put a piece of tape around the dangling key!

I have left the key dangling from the lock for years. How many megabucks in resale value do you suppose I have given up?
Seriously, I refuse to have a locked compartment anywhere on the boat without the key right at the lock. This is a matter of safety over scratched wood. Regards, Gene Fuller Yorkshire Rose, C42 #870 (By the way, I just looked, and there are no scratches at all from the key on our boat.) |

Gene:
I quite agree, and my key lives in that lock, too. The damage was done by the second key swinging on the splitring. There was a perfect semicircle of varnish completely gone - all that wear just from trucking the boat up the coast. That's not smart quality control.

Bootstrip is dark blue, Catalina Blue to be correct, its just poor lighting.

The dark blue bootstripe is standard out of the factory, however, you can order the boat with a different color bootstripe - you just simply have to pay for
it. When I ordered my boat, I paid extra for a black bootstripe (LP) and deleted the sheer stripes (at the time they were blue and green) and put my own sheer
stripes (black and gold) on the boat as I wanted a more distinctive color scheme. I think it turned out pretty well but you be the judge as beauty is in the
eye....
A good yard can always change the color for you as well - it just costs bucks. Congrats on your new boat Barry.

She looks great. Thanks for posting the pics Barry. I was confused by the hull number and when it was delivered because I purchased hull number 1003 and it
was in the water at the Boats Afloat Show in Seattle on Sept. 16th. She had to come back out of the water again to finish commisioning and we've had her
at the home dock since early October. I guess the finished boats do not come out of the factory in the same order as the hulls came out of the moulds. We
have spent the last few weeks delivering her to various vendors to install radar, chartplotter, dodger, bimini and full enclosure.
I just comleted my first oil change at 51 hours so I guess she's officially broken in. Bob |

998 Was finished, around the same time, she sat at the factory was picked up as a demo boat by dealer, was waiting shipment when I came along. I think my
dealer had her held for a bit, but let her go, because I was not ready to buy yet, but things worked out that she was still there when I was ready, Catalina
pulled her back, and finished her out to my specs and then shipped to me.
Well, I just thought I would drop a line and give an up date as to my progress. 1. Panda Gen set, well it appears that someone forgot to hook up the thru hull to the generator so it can cool itself. So working thru getting that little goof fixed. 2. Door to master cabin and catch improperly mounted, both catch more than just shifting of boat hull and frame when lifted and such. 3. Nav instruments have the boat going backwards all the time, wind instruments inop. I think so far thats it. What works, The Furling boom is great, and the electric winch to put it up is a plus also. still working at getting things set just right as far as angle for furling, but It makes sailing short handed a charm. I do it all with my 10 year old daugther, she loves it, I just have to make sure she is grinding, and not looseing the sheets, thats hard for little hands. so grinding on a winch is easier,
.
Getting a rachet block for my furling line, make it little easier to furl under load. I love the way the boat sails, she is very responsive, and I have noticed some weather helm but that was in strong puffs, have not had to reef yet. So far so good she is a great boat and I am super happy, little things but it work on progress. so here are some pics of the finished product.
