I installed a Westerbeke 7.6kw diesel genset in the engine room behind the main engine. I relocated the water heater to the aft, port lazarette. I removed the engine room door frame and widened the opening a few inches to get it in. Built engine beds with heavy mahogany and glassed to the hull. I rebuilt the door a little wider, and added a small door inside the garage to access the oil filter and dipstick. I put 1 inch sound insulation in the engine room before installing the generator. In addition to the water lift muffler, I installed a Vetus exhaust water separator which make the exhaust very quiet at anchor. I upgraded the electric panel to a Paneltronics 60 amp AC service to accommodate air conditioning and generator transfer. I would prefer to have a Fischer Panda generator as it is much quieter, but was expensive. Did the install myself and all has worked well for 5+ years. An Entec west generator would be fine, but I needed more kilowatts for 2 air conditioners in Texas. I have 1994 hull no. 429.
