Posts: 22 07/12/07 23:20:00	Tags : None Hi All It has been in the works for over a month and it all came together today. Laura and I are now the proud owners of a 1999 C42, hull number 674. It is a 2 cabin pullman currently located in San Diego. We are having it trucked to Tacoma, Washington and hope to be sailing the waters of Puget Sound before the end of July. We have been checking out this site for a few weeks and have found it to be an amazing resource. I expect we will have a bunch of questions when we get the boat home and hopefully will be able to answer a few questions when we get things figured out. Posts: 22 07/21/07 08:05:52	Thanks for the warm welcome. Unzipped Again has now arrived in Bellingham. She will be re-commissioned this week and we will be sailing her home (Tacoma) next weekend. Then a week later it is off for a two week cruise around the San Juan Islands. It will be a great opportunity to get to know the boat. Some of you may know this boat from San Diego and from this site. It was named Windcatcher and was owned by John and Annette Peck. I don't know the details but John passed away recently and Annettte sold the boat. John and Annette took very good care of Windcatcher and were obviously proud owneres. Annette - If you are ever in Tacoma, Washington and would like to do some sailing please don't hesitate to contact us. You are always welcome. Posts: 108 07/23/07 07:20:54	Hi Bill and Laura Welcome to our wonderful association. You bought one of the best boats in the industry. But you know that already - other wise you would not have bought it. We spent last summer in the Gulf and San Juan Islands and had a great time (Canadian Customs not withstanding - they were a pain to say the least) Even though the currents through the passes were 4 to 5 knots we had no trouble powering through - the 42 has enough power. The most exiting ride we had was through Deception Pass - going west at 10+knots with the engine at 1500 rpm. After enjoying the PNW - we then took our boat down the coast to Long Beach CA - you may want to pick up a July copy of 48North and go to page 62. Again enjoy - its a fun boat. Posts: 22 07/23/07 21:25:15	Hi Peter Your right - the 42 is a great boat. We have only sailed a 42 once for a couple of hours. That was in San Diego when we were there to sea trial and survey the boat. The mast was re-commissioned and the bottom was painted today. We hope to be in the water on Thursday morning. Saturday will be our first day sailing our boat. We are getting really excited. I read the article in the Mainsheet about your trip down the coast. I really enjoyed reading about your trip but I don't think Laura and I will ever head down the coast. We are planning to head north up the Inside Passage in a few years. Posts: 108 08/02/07 07:02:15	Hi Bill My plans are similar to yours - I really want to do the inside Passage in a year or two. I don't think that I will sail up the coast (North) C'est la Vie will enjoy the trip on the back of a truck at 55 mph to Bellingham where it will be recommissioned. The only thing that I will add for that trip is a diesel heater - otherwise the boat is ready to go. In the meantime we are enjoying sailing in Southern California where the weather, compared to the PNW, is great for sailing the year around. Enjoy your boat - its a good one.
