Anyone have one of these propellors installed? If so, what are the pitch settings you have used? Appreciate any input.

We installed an18" diameter 3-blade about 4 years ago. My notes show I set it for 18° in forward and 14° in reverse per Martec's recommendation. While it was still on the shop bench I checked it and 1 turn of the screw changed the pitch about 2.7°. The 18° wasn't enough and we were noticebly underpitched so one day when the weather and water warmed up I spent a couple of hours doing trial and error, diving and adjusting. It took 3 or 4 tries to get it right and I didn't keep track but I think we ended up with about 22° or 23°. I left reverse where it was and it works fine. Adjusting it is easy and only took a couple of minutes between each full power test.

I just rebuilt my 19" Martec. Martec calculated 19 degrees (on the 19" martec) was equivalent to 18" - 13 pitch of the stock fixed 3 blade on the c42. They suggested 17 degrees for reverse.
It seems to be working OK. My engine will turn 3100 RPMs full trottle in gear verses 3400 out of gear. We get 7.2-7.4 knots at 2700 with our 50 hp Yanmar. Give Martec a call with your info. Tropical Itch 1991-2 cabin. |
