Posts: 16 05/11/06 10:08:24	Tags : None There is a square-headed bolt and a Phillips head screw sticking out of the brass fitting that attaches to the shaft log hose. This is the fitting that is treaded for the stuffing box and lock nut. The square-headed bolt looks like it might be a plug into which one could screw a large zerk fitting, for grease. Is there some sort of bearing at the inboard end of the shaft log hose that needs grease? What is this bolt and what is the screw beside it? Thanks. Larry Thackston Coda #849 2-C Centerline

Posts: 247 05/12/06 04:19:30	I am not sure but after a haul out and re launch I open the bolt to let the air out so water cools the shaft. the air bubble causes heat to build. It saves time rather than opening the packing gland (stuffing box).
