If you have 2 12V batteries and they make up 2 banks, (1 and 2), you jumper the ground (-) terminals together and then to a negative buss. The (+) terminals are wired to the battery switch positions 1 and 2..

If you're wired with a separate start battery and the 2 batteries in the aft locker are a "house bank", the negative (-) terminals are jumpered together and the positive (+) terminals are wired together. The negatives are then wired to a...

It actually depends on how many cells in the batteries. If you have the 4D, 8D or any 12-volt battery (has 6 @ cells to add water) they're probably in parallel. That means you tie the + of one to the + of the other, then - tied to other -.

If you have 6-volt batteries (like golf cart batteries), they would have 3 cells to add water on each battery. Then you tie the - of one battery to the + of the other battery (considered "in series"). That would...

Assuming you have 2 4D or 8D batteries (the big ones) the jumper would go between the negative terminals to tie the grounds together. You need to connect the 2 "-" posts, either at the battery box with a jumper of longer runs to the main negative bus. The short jumper would be more logical and common. Hope this helps.
