Once the mounts are solidly bedded then remove bolts to coupling. The distance between the transmission coupler and shaft coupler should be equal at the
0----90----180 ---- 270 degree increments----- The shaft should turn freely and on the same axis ---- if the shaft does not travel on the same axis - you
could have a bent shaft or strut problem..... if the shaft travels freely on the sames axis it is usually indicative of an ok strut and shaft ( although

On a recent trip to Catalina Island I noticed an unusual vibration and also I could not get to boat up to its normal speed while running the engine at

mechanic and requested an alignment / mount check. Before he had a chance to come to the boat my diver called me and asked if I had noticed anything unusual
when motoring. I told him I...

When I replaced our engine mounts, I had to get longer lag screws to tighten the mounts to the bed since the original screws no longer had sufficient bite into
the wood. If these screws are loose the engine will not stay aligned. A quick alignment check: With the transmission in neutral (and not running), you
should be able to rotate the prop shaft by hand, by holding onto the coupling. If not, something is wrong....misaligned, packing gland too tight, etc. If you
have a folding or...
