Scott,

The doors attach with screws directly to the companionway opening behind the stainless trim strips on either side of the opening. Note, these doors will not allow you to use the hatch boards as the mounting wood strips remain in place. I am located at Gate 9, berth I40 in Marina Village. Mike & Judy are at gate 11. Gate 9 is at the harbor master's office. Let me know if you would like to come over and take a look at the doors.

Hi,
How do these doors attach? I am familiar with "Mileages" and their doors. Similar? We have hull #918, a C-42 exactly like Mike and Judy's. As I am in Village Marina often to see friends we could drop by for a look.

The oak seems to hold up OK to the weather though the doors are protected by our dodger and bimini. The doors are varnished and could use a minor touch-up. As far as the look next to the interior teak, the oak is a similar color though the grain is much more pronounced.

I never did get out to my boat to measure, so thanks to you all who took upon to measure. It did seem from the photos that the campionway is narrower. Thanks All. J

Just took a measurement of the companionway between the MK I and MK II and Rodney is correct, the MK II is narrower by about 5" at the top with the same dimension at the bottom. Would have never guessed that.

FWIW, the campanion way on a MK II is much narrower than a MK I. Pretty sure these doors will not fit a MK I. I'll measure later today and post the measurements. Thanks for your interest. BTW, home port is Marina Village, Alameda, CA on San Francisco Bay.

There is no chance that the campanionway on the MK2 is the same as the MK1. If it were I would take your doors. But it would have to be an exact. It's not very likely, but possible? Anyone with that knowledge?

The set of hinges in the stainless is for my new doors obtained from Zarcor. I purchased the Zarcor doors at the Oakland Strictly Sail boat show in April. The Zarcor doors are fabricated from Starboard, the HDPE plastic material. With the Zarcor doors, I now have NO external wood on Sashay (woo hoo!). My homemade doors used the wooden edge rails. I've got a project in progress to build a similar set. Looks like you've got one set of hinges screwed to the stainless, and another set between the doors and some edge rails. Can you comment?
