I have a question - my boat came with a 10 amp circuit breaker for the water pump - and it kept shutting off everytime someone turned off the water. I replaced the breaker with a 15 amp breker but the pump draws close to 13 amps. Has anyone replaced the breaker with a 20 amp breaker???? Or do I have a problem with the pump???

Thank You for the info. I have replaced the pressure switch 4 months ago - I will replace it again - it is certainly cheaper than replacing the pump. I just love climbing back there I wonder why they put the pump behind the water heater???

Peter,

I had a similar problem with my washdown pump. The problem was the pressure switch on the pump. When I stopped the water flow, the pressure switch did not cut off power to the pump and it would trip the breaker. I installed a 20 amp breaker and eventually destroyed the pump.

You might consider replacing the pressure switch on the pump.
