        <![CDATA[ I am purchasing a set of Kato davits for my 96 42 MkII (selected after researching and reading everyones input on this board!!). In discussing the installation with the Kato folks, they indicate I'll need two rail supports (one each side of the swim ladder) which run from the top stern rail and are attached to the small flat area on the top of the storage lockers on the transom outboard of the hinge - one each side. And that the base of each davit is attached to the top of the stern toe rail... ]]>

			<description><![CDATA[ I installed our Kato Marine Davits shortly after commissioning Dancing Dolphin (#739) in July 2000.  To answer your questions:<br>

            1)  I had Kato Marine make a special secondary support rail for the port side, the side the engine is carried on the dinghy.  I designed the second rail with a bend so that the transom locker opens and placed it on the port side to balance with the backstay.  When boarding you can grab either the backstay or the rail.<br>... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ I have a 2002 42 MKII #809 with Kato davits being installed. My installation includes the two braces you described plus one additional on the rib OB motor side that goes from the stern rail to swim platform. The davit bases will be drilled and taped into the toe rail support that is glassed in as you describe. I have a 11 ft Zodiac rib with a 15 hp 4 stroke OB. Total weight is 319 with fuel tank full. It is critical that the stern rail be properly braced. Static loading is one thing but... ]]></description>
