Dinghy / inflatable recommendations

We have just bought a 2004 3-cabin centerline for use in southern New England. We usually cruise with 4, sometimes with 6. We are looking for recommendations on the following:
(1) light-weight RIB or high-pressure inflatable floor (the rib is about 40 pounds heavier), (2) 10' or 11', (3) horsepower (6 to 8 hp seems right for the pure inflatable, 10 for the RIB), and (4) manufacturer (Caribe seems to offer a nice balance of price and features). We would appreciate...

I do not wnat to use stern davits but prefer to carry my inflatable dingy on the foredeck. Does anyone know of a portable or (fixed to the mast) crane that could be constructed to lift the dingy on and off the boat. I have considered making a bridle for the dingy and using a spare jib halyard to hoist the dingy on and off. Has anyone had any experience or seen anything that might help me?

I am considering purchasing an AB Navigo inflatable RIB, which from time to time when conditions warrant I would like to keep on the forward deck. I do know whether to get the 9.6 or 10.6 feet model. Does the deck accomodate the 10.6 feet model without a struggle?

Installing Kato Marine Davits - Question

I am purchasing a set of Kato davits for my 96 42 MkII (selected after researching and reading everyones input on this board!!). In discussing the installation with the Kato folks, they indicate I'll need two rail supports (one each side of the swim ladder) which run from the top stern rail and are attached to the small flat area on the top of the storage lockers on the transom outboard of the hinge - one each side. And that the base of each davit is attached to the top of the stern toe rail...

A few months ago we saw Hull #1 in Cape Coral, FL, which had a PVC tube over the lower portion of the backstay. When we raise our dinghy on our Wells Arch, it would rub against the backstay as well as against the wire ties that were holding our SSB wire. Since installing a 2' x 1.5" tube cemented to a 6' x 0.75" tube the dinghy raised much more easily and the SSB wire is much more protected. It actually looks much better than it sounds, especially if you are careful to buy the...

Just wanted to pass on our experience with a set of davits on Escapade, our new Mark II 2 cabin Centerline (#837).

The complete kit was priced at just about $2000 . My partner , who is the original Scrooge, said "fagetaboutit!"

So we purchased the Davit arms only and he scrounged around for some stainless tubing which he fabricated into two support braces and two stabilizing arms. Saved about $800!! and it looks as...

Getting tired of cleaning the rust around the steps on the stern ladder I yearned for the days of my catalina 30 with its tubed steps sans white plastic flats that are 5200 and pop riveted which causes the oxidation. after removing the steps and cleaning, filled holes with silicon and then covered with 3m nonskid(Grey) I used a soldering iron to melt the seam where it came together and it looks like a single heat shrinked fit. It streamlines the look, is less maintenance, and provides great...

I am currently investigating the replacement of my roll-up slat floor Zodiac with an air floor 310. There is a Zodiac product designated as "Zoom" which seems to have similar specs but is substantially less costly. I suspect that there may be some fabric difference. Any one have any input on this product?
